Friendspire is a social media platform that enables users to discover new content without the hassle of endless searching. The app allows users to browse recommendations and ratings from friends for a range of categories, including movies, TV shows, books, podcasts, and restaurants.
Before launching
Friendspire users faced several usability issues that affected their overall experience. Users often struggled to find content relevant to their interests, they couldn’t filter results by specific genres. This made discovery feel random and time consuming, since users had to scroll through long lists or rely on generic recommendations. Additionally, without the option to filter by streaming platform, users frequently encountered titles unavailable on the services they actually subscribed to, leading to frustration and dead ends in the browsing experience.

The Friendspire home screen now allows users to explore content more intuitively by selecting any genre or streaming service to start discovering personalized recommendations. Users can choose multiple genres and platforms at once, as well as save or rate items they’re interested in.
The Friendspire home screen now allows users to explore content more intuitively by selecting any genre or streaming service to start discovering personalized recommendations. Users can choose multiple genres and platforms at once, as well as save or rate items they’re interested in.
To further enhance the experience, users can update their preferred streaming services in “See my streaming” or within settings. This automatically filters future recommendations to align with their active subscriptions, reducing browsing time and improving content relevance. They can temporarily switch services to explore what other platforms offer, while filtering by the genres that match their interests.
